Create a group

Groups in SocialPress are a gathering of forum topics, wires and members. Any SocialPress member can create a group.  Creating a new group on the SocialPress network is easy.  There are two ways that you can create a group.

  1. On the main user menu situated at the top, on the groups menu there is a sub menu “Create a Group”. Click on that sub menu item to proceed to step 1 of the group creation process.

  2. On your profile page, click on the “Groups” menu item situated on the left. Once clicked, your profile groups page opens with an option “Create a Group”. Click on the menu item to proceed to step 1 of the group creation process.

  3. On the group creation page, enter the group name (required), group description (required) and some news about the group. Click on the “create group and continue” button to proceed to step 2.

  4. The next step is setting up the group settings.  You can enable or disable the “Comment wire” and “Forum Discussion”.  You can also choose if your group should be public (anyone can join), private (members must request to join) or hidden (invites are sent by invitation only. If you select “Hidden” the group will not be visible in the groups page. Once you are happy with the settings, click on the “Next step” button.

  5. On the this step you can choose an image to be associated with the group. A default image is auto generated but you can upload and crop your own image for the group.  Once you have uploaded an image for the group, click on the “Next” button.

  6. On the last step of the group creation process you can invite other members to join.  Click on on the checkbox next to the member’s name to send an invite to the selected member(s).
